How do I Report a crime?

FOR ANY EMERGENCY DIAL 911
Crimes are reported by contacting the city police, county sheriff, or state police. In almost all cases, the county attorney’s office cannot issue criminal charges unless it has first been investigated by law enforcement.

How do I Get Help Collecting Child Support?

Child Support Services
The Marshall County Attorney’s office is charged with establishing and enforcing child support orders. We also assist in modification of existing child support orders. By law, we cannot get involved in any issues involving custody or visitation. If you have any questions regarding child support, please call the number below or feel free to visit our office in person.

HOW DO I apply for guardianship?

For some adults, a guardian or conservator is necessary to help that individual with daily needs. If you know of someone who is in danger of being taken advantage of financially or is no longer capable of taking care of himself/herself, please visit our office and we will assist you in starting the legal process.

How do I Report bad checks?

The Marshall County Attorney’s office assists merchants and individuals collect bad checks that have been written for goods and services. If you are in possession of a check that has been returned due to insufficient funds or a closed account, please bring that check to our office for processing. NOTE: Not all bad checks can be processed through our office. If the check in question was written for rent, on an account, for repayment of a loan, or was not presented for immediate exchange of goods and/or services, this is considered to be a debt and must be pursued through civil means outside of our office.

How do I Get help for someone who may be suicidal or substance addicted?

If someone you know is suicidal or is otherwise an immediate danger to themselves or others, you should first call 911. For non-emergency situations the Marshall County Attorney’s office can assist in petitioning the court for involuntary treatment for both mental health and substances abuse problems.
